Today I hosted the Little Gem Session in the newly cleaned up shed. I was experimenting with lino prints, hand painting and potato prints on calico and cotton drill. I’m getting ready to do a fabric swap with Jezze in South Africa. The potato prints seemed to work best with the thinner fabric paint. The lino prints really needed the tacky block print ink to get good coverage but I’m not sure how well they will wash. The leaf inside the circle is an eraser stamp I carved a while back.

Home and away

Today’s Gem session was lino cut prints. I used an Art Deco rose motif for mine, Shelly; a Japanese floral motif and guest gem Kerry, a pasifica inspired motif.

Meanwhile, across the Tasman, long distance Gem Billie started work on the “Aunt Lily” project. I’m stoked!

Japanese Knot bag side one

This reversible bag is a design I drew up after seeing similar bags in Japan a few years ago and Melbourne more recently. It is fully reversible and has a circular base. It is based on Japanese Knot bags. I made this one for my lovely Mother-in-law – modelling here. The fabric is Japanese, bought in Melbourne last year.
Tutorial will be added here shortly, I just need to write the pdf. I’ll probably be making a couple to take to Easter Craft 2.0.
